History Of Met Gala
The Met Gala was founded in 1948 by Eleanor Lambert, a legendary fashion publicist who also helped launch the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the International Best Dressed List. The inaugural event was a simple fundraising dinner to support the newly established Costume Institute at the Met.
We also have to remember those days when the Met Gala was not organized, the Met Gala was not held in 1957, 2000, and 2002. Additionally, the 2020 Met Gala was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the Gala was initially held in May, it was held in September 2021 and returned to its traditional May date in 2022.
Met Gala is the most prestigious and glamorous event in the world, as known by all, which is previously known as the Costume Institute benefit.

This year Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating the history of Black fashion and dandyism.
